Editor's review

Chill and laid-back downtempo jams a la Herbaliser and DJ Krush. Danny K has got the touch when it comes to twisting lounge sounds with cool hip-hop rhythms.

Biography

Lets go round again. Danny Ks been cooking up beats since 1999. A mainstay at sites such as Napster and Electronic Scene his whole catalogue is one of staggering depth which adheres to the belief that music is the greatest force for communication that we possess, and with the help of sites such as this - will one day again be rescued from the evil $! 3 out of his 5 albums are currently available both at Dannys publishers 21stCenturySongs and Electronic Scene and available at this site are a selection of things to give you an idea of what everything is about. The original Freetrader, Dannys albums have become the storybook of musics on-line journey - indeed Freetrader was and still is the only "free" album ever released (just send your email to dannyk@21stcenturysongs.co.uk including your postal address for your free copy). Here are some reviews of the most recent release (The Drop LP) L1 - Danny K- Yo! Give me some of what this guy is smokin!!! This guys got some solid trip-hop and electronica going on. I think what I most respected about Danny Ks music is that he knows (and pays homage to) the roots of the genre. Its evident in songs like "The Drop (part 1)"- Just listen to that classic b-boy beat- and also in songs like the simple "X" which includes at least one reference to a well known classic. Great mix of the old-new and the new-new in trip hop and electronica. Fans of the genre would be cheating themselves not to listen to this music. Get it now while its still free! "Grooves that make the city stop and listen." pbaldwin, electronicscene.com - ?X? A rather infectious, seriously groovy, sliding beat helms this track. Very cool, and very slick. The bass acompaniment is suitably cool as well, a slightly off beat double bass working to great effect here. Im reminded of DJ Cam in the sparse kind of nature of this track. There is a lot of space to breathe, there is a well balanced approach here, there could be a lot going on but there isnt, the groove is allowed to dictate proceedings, with subtle atmospherics widening the field here and there. I really like this track, well chilled, quite visual and totally cool. george from LOWTRONIK : i just love the DJFood feeling of the tracks... the brass and the other things, i dont know how its called, very jazzy. cool It actually reminds me of early Dj Vadim stuff. Or maybe Dj Cam. fabrik nos: wow, this sounds like the beat from synaptic loops calling ms tram tran ... so i automatically like it, heh heh. the horn bits really draw a parallel for me to the cut chemist/dj shadow collabs. as usual, minimal and to the point like all your tracks, yet with a certain lushness that i think comes more from your pristine production quality than the actual melodic content.....i love the groove and the brief catches of sound, the floating background texture...Its like part of the artistry is the sound design..... karl olson : mmm... very smooth. I like the progression and the production a lot. very relaxing. The Drop is definetely more jazzy. reminds me of some of the great future sound of jazz comp I have. kind of london electricity-ish. multipanel : i downloaded ck1. very nice. you should sell these songs to commercials and movies and earn a LOT of dough. big side left : listening to going down... that hat pattern is sweet...this is the sweetness i like on my doughnuts. you remind me a lot of a mellow dr. rubberfunk. you know simon? hes on your side of the pond. i see folks talking about vocals? i didnt hear any... am i listening to the wrong track? oh here...go remix...alright. now this is super sweet. nice cuts. nice classic danny grit production. im liking your stuff dude... really. danny k is on my hero list U:tama - Reminds me of Massive Attack meets DJ Food meets Thievery Corporation... Perfect trip hop. Lush pads at the intro immediately grabs my attention and chills me out. Incredibly deep sub-basses kick in, and a filtered break slowly fades in, before the main beat thumps into the scene. Groovy beats indeed. Then comes the breakdown....Beautiful. Many subtle elements at play here to create a wonderful atmosphere. The main beats come back, and the song plays to a fade out. freestyleliving : your shit is bangin! everyone take a lesson from the phunky drummer danny fabrik nos : haha yep. danny is one of the favorites among my group of friends-who-dont-really-listen-to-electronic-music-but-are-open-to-it. the most consistently good producer ive found online... octal 40 : [danny]... is my hero ... i think everyone should listen to danny ks music Mo?wax message Boards: the herbcrawlers : Hey Danny K, PHAT as fuck mate, really liking that track, nice phat bass and a real stonker beat. good work fella, "please sir, can i have some more"....id play that out anytime, reminds me of the old ninja tune stuff, sweet.....are you puttin out vinyl? colin : im into it. where can i pick up the ep? kush : This stuff is great. I have nothing to offer Danny... just a hope of good luck. PS. Keep us updated! See you on the other side. :) TLDK
