David Blumberg subs as principal clarinet with Opera International, the Harrisburg Symphony, the Garden State Philharmonic, the Princeton Chamber Orchestra and the Princeton Chamber Players. He was principal clarinet on the recording featuring the Symphony Orchestra of America for "Those Fabulous Americans" series on Albany Records. His principal instructor of clarinet was Anthony Gigliotti of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Other teachers have included Joe Allard, Charles Neidich, and David Shifrin. Mr. Blumberg is one of the Advanced Studies Clarinet Teachers for the Settlement Music School in Philadelphia. He has served on the clarinet faculty for the Foundation for Artistic and Musical Excellence Music Festival in Princeton, New Jersey. He has co-authored with Avrahm Galper, former principal clarinetist of the Toronto Symphony. In 1988, Mr. Blumberg had the honor of performing chamber music for the Governor of Nova Scotia. Other honors have included second prize in the 1986 WFLN-FM Philadelphia Concerto Soloist Competition , the Philadelphia premiere of the T.C. David Trio no.l for Clarinet, Violin and Piano in 1985, and first prize in the Grahm Stahl Concerto Competition in 1984.
