Applied to jazz and electronica, "psychedelic" can suggest all sorts of nasty things, but none of them apply to this Belgian DJ/producer's sweeping collages. Combining elements of ambient (ethereal vibraphones, cool synths) with combo-style bass and shuffling drums, Borsu's tunes are psychedelic because they're organically conceived and all about the mind trip.
Musician, DJ & producer born in Liege, Belgium (1972)
I began practising guitar & bass in various jazz-funk & fusion bands in the late 80's & played in a band called AUM during the early 90's.
We were blending many influences from jazz to psychedelic rock, from dub to funk, from dance to eastern sounds with an electronic edge.
We self-produced two albums & performed with bands like Red Snapper,Future Loop Foundation ,Akasha & Zion Train amongst others.
Then I got involved more into electronic music (mainly House/Drum'n'Bass) and began composing on my own music.
My aim is to bring my love of Afro-American, Latin & electronic music in an organic, warm & soulful contemporary mix.
My first solo releases have been released on Counterpoint Records in the UK.
Last year I released Monster ep (12" single), followed this Summer by Reminiscent ep (12" singles). My first album will be released by Counterpoint Records in October 2005
I have also remixed tracks for Marc Moulin (Blue Note Records), Delugi (4Lux) & Perry Humes.
