Trained as a traverse flautist, Italy's Florio has since moved into that least Italian of musical styles: reggae. And sung in English, no less. But you'd never know (or care) that Florio is from a peninsula and not an island, as his tunes pack all the horn-heavy punch of the original, and his rich vocals have a smoky glow possibly increased by a few spliffs.
David Florio was born in Milan, Italy, on June 2nd, 1973.
He started to study traverse flute in 1984 and improved his studies at "Civica" music academy in Milan, between 1986 and 1989.
He collaborated with Lino "Capra" Vaccina (Franco Battiato's percussionist) participating on his album recordings.
He did many shows at "Le Trorroir" in Milan with many important Italian artist as such as Elisa, Niccolò Fabi and Francesca Turé.
Ater many live experiences in Milan underground with some different bands, he decided to close himself into his laboratory: he created 4 different projects in 4 different styles (reggae/rocksteady, funk, psychedelic and Italian folk), fully arranged and played by himself.
Recently he started a collaboration with GIOP's project against Babylon music system.
He loves to travel around the world and meet people of different cultures.
