With his blustery scales and anxious tone, Sanchez nicely channels evident model John Coltrane, but his territory is distinct and modern. A cool, softly lit rhythm section can drop hints of South America, and Sanchez's own lines are often Latin-tinged.
Biography
The new album from from Puerto Rican Jazz sax master David Sanchez hit stores 5.20.08 on Concord Picante (Concord Music Group). The album draws heavily on David's classic Jazz influences such as Miles Davis & John Coltrane, while fused with David's own distinct variety of Afro-Caribbean and Latin influences.
