When you hear Def Harmonic, you'll immediately liken them to a mellowed out Outkast--more specifically, Andre3000. And we're not mad at 'em--they're actually a great take on that whole stanky rap-funk thing, especially since they're straight outta Milwaukee.
Def Harmonic was formed in 1999 when MC and producer JTodd hosted a local hiphop weekly at the now defunct Stork Club in Milwaukee, WI. MC Lunaversol9 walked through the door, picked up the microphone and dropped lyrics. JTodd asked her to enter the fold and Def Harmonic was born. After a series of lo-fi abstract rap 12"s, a lot of shows, and much time in the studio, the sound has melded into an outer space head funk for dance floors and living spaces all over the galaxy. On the planet EARTH their music is played on fine radio shows internationally from the US west coast to the BBC to eastern Europe and Japan.
Def Harmonic is affiliated with the SOLAR based funk coalition that operates under the code name BIG HIT UNIT. The B.H.U. controls 13 recording/enhancement studios in the western equatorial-8 regions on the planet Saturn’s moon TITAN, and 6 studios in the northern hemisphere of the planet EARTH. The B.H.U. operates for the advancement of righteous MIND-FUNK and sound-based reorganization of dark matter (ether restoration).
In performance, Def Harmonic is JTodd and Lunaversol9 on lyrics, and Epicenter, one of the finest scratch DJs, working the fader and controlling sound. Def gets down.
