Biography

It's all a bit uncertain at this point of time; a shared history have a tendency to get blurred along the way? But here's a somewhat confused biography on how it all went down. Initially de la Mancha was a project founded by childhood friends Jerker Lundh and Dag Rosenqvist in the early days of summer 2003. Jerker had written a couple of songs which needed some structure and arrangements and Dag needed some time away from his other engagements in music. On the first real summer evening of 2003, Jerker and Dag opened up a couple of bottles of wine, rigged up a microphone, plugged in the guitar and started recording demos. Three complete song ideas were laid down that night, all of them accompanied by the sound of girlfriends and cars passing, and discussions took place on how to record these songs properly. Drums were required to complete the songs and Esben Willems, a wonderful man from V?rmland whom Dag had gotten to know while studying to become a sound technician, were contacted. Unrehearsed and uncertain, drums were laid down in a crummy basement studio on Hisingen, Gothenburg. Additional recording took place with the aid of Dags portable recorder in various apartments in Gothenburg over the course of a month and the whole thing were mixed and ready by the end of July 2003. Summer turned to fall turned to winter and nothing really happened, work and studies exhausted the members but by mid December drums for three new tracks were again laid down in that same crummy basement studio. On Valentines day 2004 four new song were ready and the members started discussing the possibilities of releasing some of the songs recorded during 2003 - 2004. But then fate took yet another turn and due to a broken heart the bigger part of 2004 were an inactive period for the band. By fall the members once again decided to give it a shot and the first ever de la Mancha rehearsal took place during November. With a line up consisting of drums and two guitars the band rehearsed a couple of times but the need of a bass player became imminent. By chance and the aid of alcohol the band found Thobias Eidevald, an astonishing man both as a person and as a bass player. Frequent rehearsals followed and the band turned from shy and staggering into brotherhood. Since parts of the already recorded material contained both piano and keyboard, decisions were taken to also include a keyboard player in the group. Jonas Kernell, a co-worker to Thobias, joined the band in January and added yet another humble soul to the ranks of de la Mancha. This is now, 2005. The earth will stay in orbit around the sun as it always has. Days will turn into weeks, years, ages and aeons. There is nothing but darkness and a tiny light. We fell asleep, now we're awake?
