For about 20 seconds, Christelle Delaney's cool, jangly sound suggests American indie--probably something from the San Diego underground. Then she starts singing. Delaney's husky vocals are French in more ways than language. Heavy lidded and bittersweet, hers is the sound of puffing a Gauloise in a chilly Parisian café.
Delaney is 33 year old Parisienne Christelle Delaney. She sings with a beautifully detached voice, accompanied by her acoustic guitar or a backing rock band. She sings mainly in French but several of her songs are in English. Pehr is releasing her first and only album in the US, and she is currently recording a new album.
