Canadian post-punk outfit Despistado was an auspicious and welcomed surprise in 2004--the music an unbridled mix of anthemic punk with shifty, angular twists and turns. Unfortunately, just as the young group was hitting its stride, the bandmembers split up in early '05. To ease the pain of our loss, Despistado left behind the album The People Of And Their Verses, a passionate statement from a band that burned too bright.
The digital only The People Of And Their Verses, recorded just prior to Despistado's breakup, seethes of potential and captures a band at their peak. Potent, scathing, and vital the twelve tracks burn with a passion and sense of eagerness that render this an instant classic. While the band will be sorely missed, this is as fine a farewell as any band has given their fans.
