Editor's review

The Philly production master and M.I.A. cohort goes wizard on Sandra Melody's "Newsflash," sending hypnotic reggae into fizzing, arcing electrostatics. This mix--the almost industrial rawness of the beats with the rich melody--is engaging in much the same way as "Kala."

Biography

Ever since it made a very limited appearance on white label in the UK, Diplo's signature rhythm has been causing a stir. Indescribable and irresistable, the rhythm left people scratching their heads while they danced, the added attack of Sandra Melody and her "Newsflash" turning it into an underground anthem on London dancefloors. Now it's time to unleash the beast and let it breath.

On one 12" are three versions of the tune. First, the classic Sandra Melody "Newsflash", then Vybz Cartel with his take on how to deal with the ladies, "Baby". Finally, Brazillian baille funk MC Panteras Os Dandhinos come through with some real rawness on "Percao". For each take, Diplo alters the rhythm slightly, combining all three versions on a blazing instrumental.

A fantastic tune for any dancefloor (as no one can really decide what kind of music it is) this is set to be one of the tunes of the year! Don't sleep.
