Doujah Raze's got hip hop running through his veins. That's probably why the Virginia/Washington D.C. MC made the decision to pack his bags and relocate to Brooklyn, and it's paid immediate dividends for him. Since the move he's been busy touring and in the studio working with legendary producers the Beatminerz (Blackstar, Smif N' Wessun, Black Moon, Ultramagnetic MC's) and former X-ecutioner Mista Sinister on a few tracks for his upcoming album.
Emerging as one of today's elite Hip Hop performers, Doujah Raze offers a distinct and refreshing blend of rhymes and beats - raw and powerful lyrics delivered with ease over soulful melodies, thick bass lines, and pounding drums. Though he hails from Alexandria, VA and represents Washington, DC to the fullest, he credits much of his recent success to his relocation to New York City in 2002. "I'll always rep DC and Virginia, but moving to New York has opened so many doors for me that I would have never discovered had I lived anywhere else in the world. It was essential to my development."
Since Doujah's move he has continued to put out successful 12" singles, performed worldwide, and worked with Hip Hop veterans that he's listened to through the years. It is safe to say the move paid off.
Trilogy Records, Inc., Doujah's own independent label, began releasing his singles in 2001. Each single experienced incredible success, gaining national and international airplay, achieving peak chart positions, and creating a strong buzz around the globe. From his debut, "Hard Times," to his latest offering, "New York City," Doujah's records have impacted the scene, receiving praise from DJs, critics, and urban music magazines such as Elemental, XLR8R, and URB. While dominating the college music scene, Doujah has also tallied up several hundred BDS spins, gracing commercial airways in key markets across America.
Through the success of his music, Doujah has had the opportunity to work with established artists such as Da Beatminerz, O.C. (DITC), and DMC Champion Mista Sinista on his recent projects. He is currently working with other popular artists in the Hip Hop world, and plans on dropping a number of collaborations after Trilogy releases his debut album in the summer of 2005.
Upon the release of his album, Doujah will be touring the US, as well as returning to Europe and venturing to other areas such as Asia and Australia. He has spent the last three years rocking venues in the U.S., Canada, and throughout Europe.
In 2003-2004 he did a month long tour of Germany, Switzerland and Austria with Camp Lo, Large Professor and Grand Agent. The tour hit 17 cities, and Doujah proved himself through his inherent stage presence, wowing crowds and tearing down stages night after night. Through the course of his travels, Doujah has also shared the stage with Hip Hop acts such as Busta Rhymes, Mobb Deep, Raekwon, CL Smooth, Dilated Peoples, Brand Nubian, Black Moon, PMD, Little Brother and Mr. Lif.
