Editor's review

The funky, glitchy promise of trip-hop is finally fulfilled by Down the Dayz. Candy coated vocals drift above the bubbling backbeat while everything from downbeat to acid jazz percolates in the distance. You’ll get down for days with Down the Dayz.

Biography

The band Down the Dayz, originally called Spiritshine, was founded in Budapest in the winter of 2004 as a project by Eszter Polyak, assisted by some friends who helped to create her musical visions. During the rehearsals, while experimenting with new songs and also new sounds, after many concerts in small clubs and surviving the change of a member, this band soon reached a point on its way of self-discovery when, as a mature group, they could continue this way bearing a name which best fits the atmosphere of their songs. Among the many influences, due to the different musical background of its members, we can find the traits of today's electronic pop culture(mainly down tempo elements)as well as those of new wave and rock; eclectic as it is supposed to be, but in a recognizable, newish form. The smaller circle of audiance mention Portishead, Endless Blue, Emiliana Torrini as probable, but not direct, influences. Among the plans for the foreseeable future is the production of a studio recording of six songs- with an obviously promotional goal-,and lots of concerts and media appearances, so that more and more people can become acquainted with this-hopefully not only for them-significant music. Members: Eszter Polyak - vocals Marton Lonkai - keyboard Gedeon Nagy - guitar Gabor Artner - bass, sampler Csaba Szabo - conga, cajon
