Editor's review

German tenor Joachim Duske has a rare gift for a classical singer: a voice that is at once rich and softly tender. Focusing largely on the oratorios of composers such as Bach, Handel, and Mendelssohn, Duske's expressive tones find the vulnerability beneat

Biography

The German tenor Joachim Duske studied private musical education with main subject -song- with Lore Schaefer at the College of Music Heidelberg/Mannheim. He continued his studies at the College of Music Cologne, Institute Wuppertal, with Professor Reinhard Becker. In 1988 he took his artistic A-level certificate with pricing. His education ended with the concert examination in 1990. The lyrical tenor has made a name to himself for many years in Lied Singing and Concert Singing. He won recognition by performing the oratorios and Passions of Schuetz, Bach, Haendel, Haydn, Mendelssohn, Distler and many others as a soloist. Together with well-known choirs and ensembles he made concert journeys through Europe. For example, he appeared with the St. John?s Passion (BWV 245) of J.S. Bach in the Baltic States and in Moscow; further on with H?ndel?s Messiah in Vancouver, Canada. Together with the pianist Christoph Hinz Duske produced in 1998 his first solo - CD with ?Songs of the Romanticism?, he also sang the tenor part in the CD production of the Christmas oratorio (BWV 248) of J. S. Bach together with the Madrigalchor Recklinghausen and the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen. Numerous radio-, television- and CD recordings, performances of Liederabende and private concerts with chamber music ensembles complete his artistic life. Joachim Duske is a member of the NDR Chor in Hamburg and the Brahms Vokalquartett Hamburg. Since 2005 he works together with the Klezmer - Ensemble OT AZOY.
