The Windy City has always fathered classic underground hip-hop acts that never seem to get the attention they deserve (Prime Meridian, Mass Hysteria). And like many of those acts, Earatik Statik brings metaphysical mayhem to its lyrics. MCs Celo and Abstruss Tone melt mics, while DJ Rude One cuts it up over loop-heavy beats by the Opus and others.
Earatik Statik ranks at the top of Chicago's underground hip hop scene - they've played with the big boys, from Outkast to Kidrock to Ice Cube to Digital Underground to Rakim. They've hit the stage at the House of Blues, Metro, Double Door and Liquid. They have been on European tours. But who are they?
Earatik Statik consists of three "super native Chicago hip hop gurus": Carlos Polk (Celo) and Seth Rich (Abstruss Tone) as main emcees and World Famous turntablist DJ Rude One of S.M.P. fame.
This Fall, Earatik will be releasing their debut LP Feelin Earatik on Chicago Hip Hop Label Gravel Records. The CD will feature some of Hip Hop's Top names, including: Kool Keith, K-Solo, Rise & Shine, Black Silver, Pacewon, Akrobbatik, Profound & Zulu. Along with an Allstar cast of producers to the likes of: Diamond(D.I.T.C.), Single Minded Pros, Dj Emmaculate, Panik (Molemen), Brother El & The Opus.
Gravel will also be releasing Earatik's single entitled "Evil Is Timeless" features production from Mush Recording artists The Opus. The 12" also features a song entitled "People Like Us" produced by Legendary producer Diamond D along with a special bonus cut entitled "IllState Massive part2" featuring EdO.G produced by Chester Copperpot. The video for "Evil is Timeless" will also be distributed to all national and local video mix shows.
Rumors of a killer stage show surrounds the group, whose aim is to keep the crowd hyped. By touring with all-star Midwestern deejays S.M.P., Earatik has made their performance a grass roots hip hop experience, a mix of live and sequenced electronic flavors. Definitely not to be missed.
