Playful prince of funkgasmic retrosexual dancefloor anthems, Electroclash pioneer Felix “Da Housecat” Stallings pumps out glittering, star-studded, aphrodisiac tracks back to back, sought by chart-topping songstresses and eclectic DJs worldwide. Smooth, buttery, creamy, and dreamy, Felix spins a sparkling web of sugar around undulating waves of disco-tech bass that electrify and satisfy the libido of anyone with a pulse.
Chicago's disco visionary FELIX DA HOUSECAT is set to return to dominate dance floors and airways with his stunning third album VIRGO BLAKTRO & THE MOVIE DISCO.
A master class in sugar-frosted vocal pop, soulful synth-funk and pulsing electronic disco, it is comfortably the most satisfying album this dance music icon has produced. Six years after he glammed up dance floors with Kittenz And Thee Glitz, 20 since he stepped into a studio to record his first underground hit at the age of 15, one of modern pop's great outsiders is about to embark on the next phase of his remarkable career.
Not only is Virgo Blaktro Felix's black soul odyssey, it's also one of the purest pop rushes you'll hear all year. Says Felix: "I wanted to go Parliament, I wanted to go Sly And The Family Stone, I wanted to go black Prince. But at the same time I wanted to go like George Michael and Pet Shop Boys - only them being black, 'cos this stuff is all black-influenced. So I had to do this Blaktro record"
Virgo Blaktro & The Movie Disco was recorded in Barcelona (at an old movie theatre turned studio) and Antwerp by Felix and Belgian producer BC and then mixed late last year in the Atlanta studio of Felix's pal Dallas Austin (producer of Kelis, Gwen Stefani, TLC etc).
The dirty thick stomp of lead single "Something For Porno" was the key track that inspired what Felix is calling his "sexy black electronic disco album". "With this album, I said I think I know what I'm going to do. It only takes one song to know where you want to go and that song was 'Something 4 Porno', the first song I did. So I based everything around that." Virgo Blaktro positions Felix as a gifted songwriter with a knack for crafting addictive pop. He indulges his obsession with '80s synth-pop on 'Lookin' My Best', 'I Seem 2 Be The 1', 'Sweet Frosti' and 'Monkey Cage', while anchoring the tunes in a rich and soulful funk groove.
Felix is set to kick the party into full gear this summer with two shows on one day on August 4th. Starting the day with an appearance at the Virgin Festival, in Baltimore, he will go late into the night at the Avalon in Los Angeles. Full tour dates will be announced soon for October.
