The skeletal remains of New Mexico's best metal band (Fatso, Weekly Alibi 1999-2000) have shed their former obtuse exterior to become Albuquerque's leanest Champion of Rock. Adam Tillie with his foot through the kick drum and meat-hook fist in the snare, Christian Horstmann deafening the kids in the juvenile detention center next door with his mind-altering guitar solos, and Robert Smith stuffing a mouthful in your ear-hole on bass and vocals, FIVEHUNDRED produces rock songs the likes of which compel lesser mortals to thank their Rock Gods for having heard, then weep for joy. Does FIVEHUNDRED know rock? FIVEHUNDRED has forgotten more rock songs than most bands ever learn. For years FIVEHUNDRED has been provoking the needy, rock-starved youth of Albuquerque to shrug off the malaise of modern alternative music and raise their fists in the air for rock. Launchpad, Burt's Tiki Lounge, Atomic Cantina - Wherever a public address system exists alongside a public outcry for more rock, FIVEHUNDRED has been there. Dixie Witch, Nebula, Reverend Horton Heat, Alabama Thunderpussy - Whenever the greatest rock bands of all time require assistance, local rock promoters need only raise the flag, and FIVEHUNDRED will, as always, keep the city safe to rock another day.
