Editor's review

Postal Service really started something with its unique brand of emo electronica--illustrated by a wave of inspired producers including stateside producer Flight Orchestra. His songs bear an obvious mark of unpredictability: One minute you'll be floating along a nice, heavenly synth, and then next it sounds like Godzilla stomping on a sea of drums.

Biography

Comparable to the sounds of The Postal Service or Thom Yorke, The Flight Orchestra’s lyrics are melodically driven with a certain underlying sadness. This is often complimented by squelching drums to ambient sounds somewhere between Stunt Rock meets Alva Noto, with the occasional cheeky “Goonies” movie sample in the mix. Live, The Flight Orchestra’s performances are deeply emotional; satisfying (and sometimes disturbing) both the heart and the ears. One minute, you’ll see him standing somberly on stage singing over a bleeping ballad and next, he’ll be flailing about wildly while screaming over pounding bit-crushed drums and obscene bass lines.
