This quartet from the San Joaquin Valley town of Visalia creates delightful pop music that makes you want to bounce your way down the sidewalk or tap out the rhythm on the steering wheel of your aging Toyota. Go ahead, play it again, there's nothing wrong with feeling good.
If you find yourself driving between Fresno and Bakersfield and your feet start tappin'...don't blame foot of feathers if you veer off the road into a dairy...but you can blame them if you can't get their songs out of your head.
Foot of Feathers?was started?in the summer of 2002 by Kent Stahl (vocals and guitars)?and Rich Stephens (guitar).? They asked friends Aaron Alberstein (bass) and Joe Miller (drums) to join up.? In the summer of 2003, Miller hung up his gloves?and the feet found a new drummer in Visalian Jenny Klug.? After their debut recording "...the woes of broken bones and noses", Stephens headed to the north where the surf was swell.? Aaron Estes,?who recorded and engineered "...the woes of?broken bones and noses",?took Stephens' place in summer 2004.? Spring 2005 saw the departure of Alberstein. Bassist Bryan Cole came in to replace. In the summer of 2005, Miss Klug departed to the great grey north of SF.? The feet found?their next?drummer?in?a dusty town called Hanford...his name Travis Soward.
Foot of Feathers seamlessly blends hook-filled elements of pop/rock's past and present. Bands like the Kinks, the Beatles, Built to Spill, and the Shins come to mind when spinning their debut LP the woes of broken bones and noses.
This Visalia four-piece rocks quite a bit more than the recordings. Catch them if you can, and be prepared to hum the highlights the following morning while brushing your chompers.
