Editor's review

A Swedish Americana band from the '80s named after one of Hollywood's greatest leading men? Why not? Cooper's cool, punky take on country music (likely inspired by part-time Swede Lee Hazlewood) still sounds crisp and authentic. With a reunion in the works, this Gary Cooper may see his name in lights again.

Biography

In 1986 Gary Cooper released his first single "The Movin Kind"/"Heavy Burden" (Eternal Love Records).
In 1987 he teamed up with a backing band and a year later they released their first single as The Gary Cooper Combo - "Until My Dying Day"/"Okie" (Blazing Records).
In 1989 they released the album "100 Towns" and the single "Chains"/"Cry Cry Cry" (both Eternal Love Records).
In the early 90s
the band broke up, but they did a couple of reunion concerts in the years that followed.
In 1991 Gary Cooper did his comeback appearance at the Woody country venue in Stockholm, Sweden.
Now hes in the studio recording new exciting music. Listen to some samples in the Songs Section.
