Editor's review

Thinking outside the box seems to come naturally to GB. The SoCal producer meshes many styles--beat-boxing and other hip-hop elements, mind-boggling broken-beat rhythms, sultry R&B, and a broad range of electronica--and the resulting sound is as futuristic as it is soulful. GB's stutter-stepping beat on "After All," featuring songstress Joy Jones, is a beautiful example of his intriguingly versatile approach.

Biography

In an industry where truly innovative minds are few and far between, GB stands out as one of the pioneers of a new sound for a new generation. His approach to music making is simply limitless. While exploring a wide variety of genres including hip hop, soul, and broken beat, GB still manages to tap into a sound that has not yet been labeled. This is the sound of the future.  At the young age of 20, GB, the Inglewood, CA native whose birth name is Gabriel Reyes-Whittaker, has already begun to make a name for himself,   The project features guest vocals from talents like Steve Spacek, Flora Purim, and Joy Jones, while some of the other tracks feature live musicianship and guest production from the likes of Ricci Rucker and Airto Moreira.  The first single featuring Spacek and Sa+Ra Creative Partners is already making waves amongst fans of future-leaning music.  GB’s remix catalogue is also growing, beginning with his remix to Wildchild’s “Youzafiend”, and moving into his rework of Jody Watley’s “The Essence” for King Britt’s Five Six Recordings, as well as an upcoming remixes for Ninjatune’s Up, Bustle & Out.
