Gene's songs have a rockabilly, country, boogie feel, with a touch of folk and a little humor. They cover subjects from family stories and personal experiences to just plain old rockabilly & blues to get down to. He got started playing lead guitar in Memphis, Tennessee as a teen, influenced by Beale Street Blues, then played in bands through the British Invasion of the late 1960's. Gene was a member of an all-original 70's acoustic group, Meretrix, that was published and recorded in New York. He also studied classical guitar in college.
Gene began song writing in the 1980s and continues to do so today. He has a CD titled "Homemade Music", which was actually produced in the basement of his home.
Gene's previous MP3 web page received over 4,500 downloads. Four of his songs were ranked among the top 10 in the MP3 Rockabilly category for the State of Maryland. Gene's song, "Good Nutrition Blues" received airplay on Washington, D.C. radio station WETA/FM 90.9. His song "Trip, Stumble & Fall" was selected as a Washington Post MP3 Pick-of-the-Week.
