Biography

My name is Nyerere Moore(AKA Glockamoly), I was born January 11, 1971, in London England, to Vance and Felicia Moore. My father was born in Barbados, my mother was born on the island of Grenada, and raised in Trinidad and Tobago. I had many cultural and musical influences since my family is comprised of a spicy mixture of Bajans, Grenadians, and Trinidadian’s. I was raised on allot of different music such as Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Bunny Wailer. I grew up on Reggae, Calypso, and a variety of English music, such as Madness, The Specials, and Bad Manners. I moved from England to New York in 1984, where I first heard songs like The Message (Grandmaster Flash And The Furious Five) and Planet Rock (The Soul Sonic Force). My favorite album back then was Wild Style, and off that album I also use to listen to other groups like Double Trouble, Fantastic Five Mc’s, Cold Crush Brothers, and Chief Rocker Busy Bee. When I first heard KRS-1, and Boogie Down Productions, The Bridge Is Over, I loved the reggae feel and believe that is what inspired me to write my first rhyme. I started to write my own rhymes that I use to rock at house party’s, at school, and in Ciphers. For years it was a hobby to me, until people started to tell me, that I was really good, and that I should take it seriously. Eventually I was in a group with one of my childhood friends, called MBUF, (The Mighty Burn Unit Federation). We did a collection of songs that people loved, had a decent fan base and did a few concerts. I then moved from New York to Atlanta, where I am currently working solo, writing and recording songs. I feel that I am a breath of fresh air in the industry, I pride myself on being a true songwriter, lyricist, and performer and I am ready to prove it!
