gregg weiss

Gregg is a songwriter in the troubadour tradition, with an extensive original catalog as well as Americana traditionals. Born out the beginnings of the Lower East Side Anti-Folk movement in NYC in the 90's and developed in the backwoods picking circles of the farm states of the US. His show is a campfire experience. Originally from NYC, with a different kind of music in each neighborhood. Outside of NYC, he continued this form of study, both in the continental US and in other countries around the world. He has been living a 'gypsy-ethno-musicologist-ic life' for more than five years. He has been releasing original collections since 1999 and is currently working on his 9th release; this will either be a collection of electronica recordings begun in Poland in Sept. 2005, or more likely, an acoustic collection of new material written over the last year.... In January 2006 he completed his first solo tour of Great Britain playing 12 shows over 15 days. Theaters, clubs and bars. In the July 2006 he relocated to Puymirol, France where he now resides. Recent appearances include an Art/Sculpture festival in Agen and an appearance with The Liftmen at l'entrepot in Toulouse. He is currently booking a return to UK for October '06, this time with stops in Netherlands along the way...
