Editor's review

Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine seem to rarely come up in conversations about electronic music, but such eclectically inspired house mixes must have been inspired from way out in left field. Bedrock recording artist Guy Gerber takes those influences and many others to spin ethereal and shoe-gazerish tracks that swirl like Technicolor typhoons in your headspace. Gerber slowly builds hypnotically engaging sets to suck you into a vortex of sensual overtones for a subtle, yet mind-blowing effect.

Biography

Guy Gerber

One of the most influential artists that came out of Israel. It all changed for Guy at the age of 16. After playing soccer for ‘"Maccabi Tel-Aviv" and the youth national team, he got his first electric guitar. That was the end of sport and the beginning of music addiction. Listening to bands like Joy Division and My bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth , Madness and The Beatles, guy established a unique taste for music.

With today’s various dance music genres, Guy has created his own sound. A natural mixture of strong and deep grooves, futuristic bass lines all blended with a touch of tender melancholic harmonies as topping.

Guy’s first dance floor hit "Kenny's back" (Whoop!), was featured on many compilations, including DAVE SEAMAN’S GU22 and on the Hollywood movie soundtrack All the good years (A MICHAL DOUGLAS production). Then came Electric Mistress on Alternative Route, played by DANNY TENAGLIA to the point that the vinyl got so worn out, that he requested for a new copy. This was followed by "Flamer/Soon", the first release on KINKY VINYL, under the name A.D.D. His recent releases on Twisted America have added a new view on electronic music to this legendary label whit his old skool "Geronimo" track. For all these achievements Guy has received the best Israeli electronic artist prize for 2003 by the Israel Music Association and an award for best producer by Israel's leading dance music magazine & MTV contest Guy’s new single out "Stoppage Time" (Bedrock), is currently heavily supported by JOSH WINK, DIGWEED, CARL COX,SATOSHI TOMEII,JOHN AQUAVIVA,SVEN VATH and was played by SASHA on his live Ibiza set (on radio1) as his closing track! the track was chosen for the trailer for the movie "24 hour party people" on channel 4. Finally, today, after releasing almost 20 of 12’s in Europe and the US, His debut album 2 birds 1 stone is ready to present Guy’s unique world of cutting edge beats,

Guy’s wide variety of projects also includes editing and composing music for contemporary dance art where he collaborated with Ohad Naharin (one of the most important choreographer of the last 3 decades) to compose to his last act-“PLAYBACK” and also did the sound design for the work “love” by Sharon Eyal performed by the "BAT SHEVA" dance group.

Guy is currently producing a new girl band called Terry Poison and also building the structure for his new label Supplement Facts.Performing live with ABLETON; Creating a live full digital experience Guy will be leaving turntables behind. With the functions to be able to sample, loop, and mix his own elements, he creates new tracks with his unique sound through digital technology; Guy will truly be revolutionizing the live DJ performance and take the crowd to a higher level.

To understand the mysterious world of Guy, one needs to see his hypnotic live show, as he draws the masses dancing to deeper depth’s and glorious high’s… GUY played a live set on JOHN DIGWEED’s KISS 100 show and performed live in clubs and festivals in Finland, Russia, Sweden, Estonia, Croatia, Turkey and recently at London’s "Notting Hill Festival" .his last high profile gig was at bedrock's 6th birthday with Digweed ,Desyn Masiello and Danny Howells.
