Gentle and soothing on one hand, the lush, acoustic arrangements of Halifax Pier at the same time portend darker thoughts and themes--like a storm moving in toward shore, gray November melancholy, or night shadows falling in a dark, sleepy hollow. Call it post rock for the chamber-folk set: It's not about creating nightmares, more about mining the intriguing (and vaguely dissonant) region between darkness and light.
Biography
With its six members living all across the United States, Halifax Pier still manages to find the time to write, record, and perform some of the most heartbreaking music in recent memory. Resting somewhere between dark folk and lulling chamber music, their telling tales are those of loss, love, and hope. Strikingly poetic lyrics, intricately plucked acoustic guitars, strings, and percussion help the stories become so real.
