Hartford's Grey is a 5-piece pop/rock band from Boston, MA. The Keene Equinox (3/11/04): "The members of Hartford's Grey had a kinetic energy...each musician fed energy off one another, creating a unified musical attack that connected with the remaining audience members." The band released their debut CD in August 2003. It is a 12-song album that was 100% independent: produced and recorded by the band at Boston's WERS 88.9FM and in Joe's dorm room. Since their beginnings in New Hampshire the band has gone on to Boston, playing at the Middle East, the Kirkland Cafe, Starbucks, MIT, and Emerson College. They returned to Derry, NH in October 2003 to play at the closing ceremonies of the New Hampshire Film Expo. After a successful show in New Jersey the band is currently making plans to return in May, with shows in CT, RI and NY. Hartford's Grey also has much experience as an acoustic duo or trio, with 4 or 5 members, or just the singer with a guitar. In April 2004, the band won an acoustic battle of the bands in Boston. The Berkeley Beacon describes Hartford's Grey: "They freely gave out toothpaste and the lead singer/guitarist ran through the crowd to rile things up...[The band is] reminiscent of Barenaked Ladies (minus the copious instruments), a slightly darker Dave Matthews and a less upbeat Blind Melon."
