The stellar sonic side of the TV show features both A-list indie rockers and the artists who influenced them: Wilco and the New Pornographers, meet Dylan and Iggy Pop. "All Things Must Pass," by the Jesus and Mary Chain (who fall into both categories), is a sneering college-rock gem.
An official Heroes soundtrack is something fans have wanted ever since hearing - sometime Prince band members - Wendy & Lisa's unique theme song. It's hard not to focus solely on the ambient charm of Wendy & Lisa's (previously unreleased) tracks that establish the other worldly identity of the show: 'Natural Selection' is undoubtledy the most frequently used piece for dramamtic scenes and sounds great reverberating out of a stereo rather than a tinny TV. There are other gems worth noting however, epscially as they're all hand picked by Heroes executive producer Allan Arkush. The show somehow got The Jesus And Mary Chain to reform to record 'All Things Must Pass' and there's a gritty collaboration between Iggy Pop and Brighton Port Authority called 'He's Frank'. Of course the collection of the show's character themes and quirky punk pop tunes wouldn't be complete without Bowie's 1977 hit 'Heroes' still sounding as inspiring as ever. Features 18 tracks, including the theme by WENDY & LISA, "Heroes" by David Bowie, and tracks by THE NEW PORNOGRAPHERS, WILCO, PANIC AT THE DISCO, NADA SURF, SHEILA CHANDRA, MY MORNING JACKET, DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE, IMOGEN HEAP, THE JESUS & MARY CHAIN, BOB DYLAN, CUCU DIAMANTES & YERBA BUENA, and THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS Featuring SPANK ROCK, etc.
