promising in places - but ultimately repetetive and too long

an interesting texture of sound. i like viola/cello, and the piece starts nicely with low notes. but then a repeated two chords becomes evident, with little obvious variety. at exactly halfway it has gone on too long. at this point by far the best section comes in, with pizzicato strings and sort of rhythmic kettle drum. but this later is drowned in a lot of cymbal splash. only at the end, when the splash stops, does one once again here a good string texture. i couln't make out the tuba. it could have been any very low bass key. whilst not bad, i think this piece would have done well to develop and change a lot every couple of bars. it's when the changes happen that it sounds interesting.
