HONEST JOHN are a four-piece band based in Sydney. Their lush sound is shaped by many influences including Neil Finn, David Bridie, Karma County and Grant Lee Buffalo. Their lyrical tunes are melodic and atmospheric, spanning a range of styles from up-beat, harmony-laden pop to dark, low-key ballads.
They have recently released their debut EP “Better Days”, recorded with producer Tony Dupé (Holly Throsby, Jack Ladder) in his Kangaroo Valley cottage.
“Better Days” captures the infectious energy and spirited intensity that Honest John have bought to their live shows across NSW. It contains five beautifully crafted songs including “Two Sides” and “Parallel Lives”.
Honest John grew out of an earlier collaboration between singer/songwriter Glen Colley and keyboardist Kate Adams. As half of melodic pop rockers The Trophy Wives they quietly went about their business building up a strong following in the Sydney scene, supporting the likes of Mick Thomas and the Sure Thing, Bernie Hayes and The Mess Hall.
They are joined by a stellar rhythm section that is as tight as the truth is loose, with Ian Krieger on drums and Adam Fagerstrom (The Jimmy Nicols) on bass.
