Strip away the schizoid beats of two-stepper Craig David and you've got something like the sound of smooth soulster Jai B. The R&B-pop crooner delivers tender lyrics--it's doubtful the topic will ever stray far from heartbreak--with chill acoustic guitar and a pillow-soft voice.
A person of Jai B's ingenuity don't go by unnoticed. Remaining largely unknown to his homeland by virtue of a severely polarized local industry, his demo came to the hands of Sora Karnero of Triad Records, a staunch believer in every Pinoy's innate musicality. See You Again was an Easter egg, in fact, out of the 23 tracks in his burned demo. Other groovers like Halik (Kiss) and Panaginip na Totoo (A Dream for Real) lands Jai B in a class of his own, with the likes of Gary V and Prince.
