Brainchild of vocalist song writer Guida de Palma, JAZZINHO, which could be translated as "Sweet Little Jazz" is a luscious blend of Rare Groove rhythms, Portuguese traditional instruments, Afro-Brazilian percussions, R&B BVs and free jazz soli. It is mainly in Portuguese, Guida's native language, but some of the lyrics are in English as well. Onstage, Guida's has put together a line up of latin Funketeers, including, percusionist and bandolim player Anselmo Netto and his mate Fender Jazz Bass player Matheus Nova, both from Salvador da Bahia, Nic France on drums, mainstay of London's Jazz scene, on Rhodes, San Sebastian born John Crawford, Marcelo Andrade, multi instrumentist from Rio - violin, flutes, sax, guitar etc. The genre bending outfit has now performed on such stages as the Montreal Jazz Festival, Barbican, Jazz Caf? etc.. In the summer 2005, Jazzinho toured the USA culminating at the prestigious Joes? Pub in New York where the band sold out As we write these lines, Guida de Palma is getting ready to release the new Jazzinho album which was produced by the legendary Ed Motta, from Rio. The stellar list of guests includes, Average White Band?s Hamish Stuart, Harry Beckett free jazz trumpet player, Max Middleton from the Jeff Beck band and incognito?s keyboardist Graham Harvey. Violin, celli and viola were provided by the Basquiat Strings and Graeme Flowers on flugelhorn and Mark Bassey on Trombone deliver the brass lines. Aguinaldo Tavares helped at many tasks, like co-writing and co-arranging, singing BVs etc... Gilles Peterson, who invited Guida to his Worldwide Show on BBC Radio 1, has predicted an almost certain dance floor success for this unique album.
