Jeff recently has taken up the guitar and demonstrates his finger-picking style for us here. Very good stuff for a man who bought his acoustic guitar three years ago and makes his recordings by only playing into his laptop’s built-in microphone. International megabucks labels eat your hearts out; you rarely accomplish anything this sweet.
Jeff Ross is a guitarist in a small harbor town. His influences range from the hard rock legends of The Who and Led Zeppelin, to the soulful smooth tunes of Eric Clapton, as well as the amazing underrated acoustic guitarists like Tommy Emmanuel and Michael Hedges. Ross began recording back in 2004, after only playing the guitar for 3 years. His first known recording was with a band called "The Booka Key Boys of South Africa" in San Diego, CA where he wrote the band's only two songs. Both songs were untitled and only one was recorded.
After is short time in the band, Ross joined up with a class-mate from high school and played local coffee shops for a small period of time, playing classics from Simon and Garfunkel and The Beatles. Breaking away from his singer, he went solo and started writing and recording short, acoustic melodies from his bedroom onto a computer, which is what he still does today. He is always up for joining other musicians and singers, and eagerly awaits performing in public again.
Ross's main focus is the acoustic guitar. His tunes range from single guitar fingerstyle to dirty duets performed on two acoustics, both played by him in the recordings. He plays a black acoustic Ibanez and a pine colored Applause Ovation. His means of recording music is through a Tascam recording panel into Adobe Audition and also uses a microphone to accentuate the acoustic tone.
Due to popular demand, Ross has returned to writing and recording. He has picked up playing the piano using his guitar skills as a template. He hopes to have a full album featuring the acoustic guitar and piano finished and recorded by the end of Summer 2007.
