Editor's review

The crooner cops some of Houston rap's best qualities--the molasses synths, the hypnotic beats--without getting into its more questionable themes. Niice's stuff veers from the selfempowering to the playfully romantic--it's good-guy hip-hop that avoids falling into the dull or sappy.

Biography

Houstian Jarrett "J Niice" Grogan is a senior audio engineering student at the College of the Ozarks in Missouri. Since the age of 15, he has been on a musical mission, distancing himself from the copy-cat "bitch & ho" vulgarity of street expletives, instead substituting quality, substance and true-life street experiences
