John Frasier is the sole member of the Jack Laffan Show. His wry, self-conscious songs are buoyed by subtle instrumentation and a voice capable of Orbison-like jumps in pitch. The Jack Laffan Show is well studied in the Smiths school of irony and melody.
John Frazier: musician/artist/designer living in Brooklyn, NY, USA
Outside is the first solo release by John Frazier. It was recorded in his Brooklyn apartment, with Frazier performing everything and producing, recording and mixing all the tracks. The record was mastered by Doug Henderson at micro-moose, and Frazier handled the design which features photos by his wife, Laurel.
John moved to New York in 1997 after the dissolution of his band, Works on Blue, in which he was the singer/songwriter/guitar player. He waited tables on the Lower East Side and went to Parson’s School of Design. In addition to his musical pursuits, he continues to paint and work as a graphic artist in New York City.
