Editor's review

This Birmingham singer-songwriter's dense, charging tracks feel something like compacted histories of all of British rock. In the space of a tidy three-minute tune, Nova can morph from a sneering, Bowie-like stage god to a '90s psych-rock revivalist in the Supergrass mold to an arena-sized indie rocker.

Biography

Jonny Nova is a distinctively British songwriter. His music is all about powerful guitars, melodic strings, big productions and interesting arrangements. This is infective, intelligent Pop Rock for the future. Jonny Nova's music is partnered with distinctive and imaginative lyrics. With lavish vocals, the songs are filled with characters, stories and social comment. Mixing retro and contemporary influences, Jonny Nova is something new that's powerful, racing, pumping, lucid, sexy, spacious, trippy... Jonny Nova's inspirations are diverse and numerous. From early Bowie, The Who and The Kinks through Detroit Garage, Surf Pop, Punk and Brit Pop to current bands like the Killers, The Strokes and Franz Ferdinand. These influence, however, are subtle and go to make a sound that's innovative and fresh.
