Whether you are a spiritual person in need of comforting prayer music or an atheist looking for calming ambience, the soothing piano pieces of Jon Swerens might be just what you're after. His tranquil playing flows seamlessly, easing your mind into a meditative state. The Indiana resident gets high marks for both his musicianship and his original songwriting.
Jon Swerens' music is simple and sweet. It's poetic and melodic. It's like faith and family sitting down together under a tree and having a picnic. "I'm just a singer-songwriter with a piano instead of a guitar," Jon says. Jon lives with his wife and four children in a "house-shaped house" in northern Indiana. Themes from home and town show up often in his music, tinged with a hard-earned optimism. "I'm naturally a melancholic person," Jon says. "I write songs I need to hear myself." His music also reflects his faith in a sovereign God, such as his song, "Relentless Love," which is soaked in thankfulness for a Savior who saves despite our rebellion: "You did not wait for me to request a pardon or to cop a plea "You did not hesitate to besiege my fortress, cannonball the gate" "I enjoy writing music that is emotional, but still has that hard-edge truth," Jon says. "We need to know we're loved, but first we need to know how unlovable we really are."
