Editor's review

Fans of the sweet Christian pop of Amy Grant can expect to enjoy Tulsa's Vaught, whose stirring vocals hold firm over twinkling, adult-contemporary piano. Vaught's personal encounter with tragedy--in 1996, the loss of her 7-year-old son--resonates in these passionate meditations on faith.

Biography

It doesn't take much to get to know Joyce Vaught, because "what you see is what you get". She has an abounding sense of compassion, and a dynamic and sincere way of expressing it on a personal level.

Joyce was born in Anaheim, California. She is the ninth child of 11 children. Her father, along with her mother, inspired strong Christian faith in their family. Both faith and music kept Joyce going strong on a daily basis. The strength she gained while growing up is what would carry her through the toughest years of her life.

Joyce and her husband, Brian, had two children, Brian Michael and Zachary Ryan. But much to their dismay, in 1996, Brian Michael would go on to be with the Lord at the young age of 7. Brian Michael's love and joy for the Lord touched hundreds of lives. The playful and bold manner in which he chose to share the gospel was her songwriting inspiration for The Smile In Your Eyes, which is a tribute to his life. Zachary's life inspires her to walk on and continue down this journey with zeal.

Being rooted and grounded in God's Word on a daily basis is the one thing that helps her the most. Having her battle gear on before facing the world (Ephesians 6: 14 -18) helps her deal more effectively with any pressure she may face. In every circumstance she has discovered that this life is absolutely about "more of Him and less of me".

She is looking forward, with great expectation, to the many years to come in music ministry and for the opportunity to share her perspective on what she believes it takes to find peace and true individual identity in and through the knowledge of Jesus Christ.

God's love for us is very real. It is Joyce's hope is that she will be able to encourage others to seek a deeper relationship with God and His Son, Jesus Christ. He doesn't expect us to be perfect, but He does expect us to follow His example.

She wants people to feel refreshed, revitalized, energized, encouraged, and ready to take their next step of faith realizing that we are all a part of God's plan.

I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. --Psalm 104:33
