Joy Wright

Joy Wright is a native of Columbus, Ohio, where she began piano studies at the age of four. Her classical training led her to the performing arts program at Fort Hayes Career Center in Columbus, Ohio. Joy spent her junior and senior years of high school there, graduating with honors. As she began to accompany the vocal department at Fort Hayes, Joy discovered Billie Holiday, and her attention quickly turned to jazz...and singing. After several years of performing in the jazz venues of Columbus (beginning at the ripe old age of 17), Joy continued her education in the direction of jazz.

A magna cum laude graduate of the prestigious College of Jazz Studies at the University of North Texas, Joy Wright has the chameleon quality of performing most any style of music. Joy has been a featured entertainer on many world cruises, as well as a featured jazz vocalist in many venues across the United States. Her tenure of three years with Disney Cruise Line found Joy with the honor of being named "Best Entertainment" aboard the Disney Wonder by The Orlando Sentinel, The Florida Sun-Sentinel, The Boston Globe, and The Chicago Tribune, as well as a favorite among repeat guests and fellow crew.

Joy has most recently spent time in Orlando, Florida, where she performed live at several venues within Walt Disney World, including the Pleasure Island Jazz Company, the Magic Kingdom, and Disney Fairytale Weddings.  Other Orlando venues also included Seasons 52 Restaurant, the Westin Grand Bohemian Hotel, the JW Marriott/Ritz-Carlton, and the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center.  After 6 years with the Walt Disney Company, Joy has returned to Texas, where she continues to write, record, perform and teach.
