Krishnendra Wadikar

Krishnendra Wadikar comes from an illustrious north Karnataka city of Hubli-Dharwad, which has produced such distinguished stalwarts as Pt. Bhimsen Joshi, Pt. Mallikarjun Mansur, Vidushi Dr. Gangubai Hangal, and Pt. Basavraj Rajguru. Born in 1978 in an orthodox family, Krishnendra Wadikar was introduced to music at a very early age. His rich and sonorous voice encouraged his father to train the young Krishnendra in Music Field. Krishnendra, according to many enthusiasts and critics of Hindustani Classical Music, is getting groomed to become a torchbearer of Kirana Gharana. Krishnendra received his basic training in music under the wings of Sangeet Ratna Pt. Arjunsa Nakod of Gwalior Gharana for about 6 years. Further he is receiving musical lessons under the able guidance of Pt. Shripati Padegar, who is a disciple of great vocalist of this country, Pt. Bhimsen Joshi of Kirana Gharana.

Major Awards to his credit are : Kalakshetra of Madras Music Award in 1993, Scholarship award { Gurushishya Parampara }from Karnataka Sangeeth Nruthya Academy 1996 ? 1997, Scholarship award for young talented artists of India, New Delhi for the year 2000 ? 2002 Rs. 50,000.00, First Prize in State Level Youth Festival 2004,First Prize in National Youth Festival 2005-2006. The Award given by Central Minister Late. Shri. Sunil Dutt & Shri Jaypal Reddy. ,Gold Medal ( First Prize ) in State Leval Youth Festival 2006

Krishnendra has participated in several music conferences including the ones at Sawai Gandharva Music Festival at Kundgol, Ustad. Abdul Kareem Khan Festival at Miraj, Pt. Kanebua Music Conference at Sangli, Pt. Balakrishna Bua Music Festival at Ichalakaranji, Malhar Music Festival at Ajmer, Sangeeta Sammelana in Goa, Krishnaveni Sangeeta Sabha at Karad.

Krishnendra has also several private and public performances at several places viz. Kolhapur, Chennai, Kolkatta, Vijaywada, Hyderabad, Karnool, Delhi, Bangalore, Udupi, Mysore, Shimogga, Gulbarga, Raichur, Bellary, Belgaum, Haveri. And other Cities of Karnataka & as well as in India to his credit. He has also rendered classical recital for Udaya, E-TV & Doordarshan.
