Not to predict record sales Down Under, but this Aussie songstress' debut blends jazz and soul as tastefully as a certain U.S. breakout star: Norah Jones. Or rather, "Cinderella Sings the Blues" is the LP purists hope Jones will make, lighter on pop and heavy with dark, original blues.
Lana Martino-Smith is an Australian singer/songwriter & graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium of Music (Griffith University, Australia). In 2006 she released her debut blues/jazz EP, "Cinderella Sings the Blues", through Australian independent label, Kitten Kong Records (Melissa Forbes). Since graduating from university, Martino-Smith has received additional vocal training in New York & Los Angeles courtesy of a Churchill Fellowship. In 2007 she played the role of "Mimi" in the Gold Coast (Australia) production of the hit musical "Rent".
