Editor's review

When critics dub a dance-music producer as demented, it's oftentimes death to their career seeing most genre fans ultimately just wanna, well, dance. But SF-based Coco Machete/Om recording artist Lance DeSardi a.k.a Land Shark is like the nerdy white version of Green Velvet--his lyrics and overall ambiance of his production are just as weird as his beats are unforgettably booty-friendly. A great combo if you ask us.

Biography

Lance DeSardi AKA Land Shark's journey into music began with a love of late night electronic radio shows in his hometown of Dallas, TX. At the tender age of 15 he took the plunge, spending all his allowance money on a cheap pair of turntables and a little two-track mixer. From then on, there was no looking back.

It was such an exciting time for Lance that it took him a couple years to realize there was no money to be made throwing free parties for your friends. That's when he met up with the infamous Dallas crew, "Hazy Daze Collective", where he began his apprenticeship as a DJ, and learned what goes into throwing a truly kick ass party. It was in this time of growth that he met up with long time collaborator JT Donaldson who showed him the ropes in music production and helped him finish his first record. In 1998, Lance heard the call of the West, and said goodbye to his roots, moving out to California. After a four year stint between L.A. and Chicago he settled among the wild and the weird in the town he calls home today, San Francisco.

As a working DJ, Lance creates an intriguing juxtaposition of house, electro, techno, and more than a little funk. He's started a band, fully realizing his rock and industrial influences that have brought him much of his inspiration. Now, with loads of singles under his belt, a double mix CD for OM records, and too many remixes to remember, he's hit his stride both as a DJ and as a producer. Today, he can be found all over the world, bringing his brand of electro-house business to the masses.
