Last Night's TV

Last Night's TV was formed in September 1999, and currently comprises the core trio of Spencer Bayles (vocals, guitar), Sarah Jones (violin) and Natalie Long (vocals), with a revolving collective of additional musicians, including guitarist/percussionist Owen Marriott and members of fellow Leeds band Nikoli. Highlights from the band's career to date include involvement in Leeds Council's Bright Young Things project, and winning a BBC covers competition with their interpretation of an Offspring song. A planned gig in New York had to be cancelled when Spence was rushed to hospital to have his appendix removed a couple of days before the flight. Not wanting to anything by halves, it broke the Guinness world record for Largest Appendix Removed. Alas, the record has since been broken again. Last Night's TV have released three self-produced albums of melodic lo-fi songs, 'Too Much In Doubt' (2002), 'Daylight Between The Blades' (2003), and 'Letters Without Envelopes' (2005) along with numerous singles, most notably 'Nice To Have A History' (Jun '04) and 'Christmas Lights' (Dec '05). Numerous songs have picked up radio airplay. The most recent album, 'Letters Without Envelopes', is a collection of songs linked by a loose narrative of lives lived through letters, with one foot in the past and one eye on the future. The songs were all recorded at the band's own studio in Leeds. In recent years, Spence has also played bass in Nikoli and with Leeds singer-songwriter Ric Neale. Natalie contributed backing vocals on Embrace's platinum-selling Number 1 album, 'Out Of Nothing'. Last Night's TV are currently working on their fourth album, due for release late 2006.
