Lateral Tension

A new industrial sound has been unleashed in Seattle. Lateral Tension manifests itself with powerful vocals and aggressive rhythm. Based on dark emotions, the music is fierce. Often reflecting on today's instability, Lateral Tension crosses the threshold of electro-industrial. Distorted vocals rage as percussive beats and caustic keyboards entrance. The band's first CD, Pressure Device, was instantly noticed by those who favor the sounds of electro-industrial music.

The formations of Lateral Tension began to emerge in Seattle. From deep within the cracks of the mind came forth the reflections of something both real and insane. The creation of A.J. Razor, Lateral Tension gained volition when Razor and Malachi began experimenting with sound. Days and nights became one as the electronic rhythm and tormented vocals took form. The sounds grew into structures of what came to be their first release titled Pressure Device. Synthesized sounds and electronic music combined with distorted and tormented vocals soon became the norm for Lateral Tension.

After the initial recording of Pressure Device, S.R. Lankhaar joined the group. Initiating a complimenting stream of samples and noise, Lankhaar added to the live effect and stage chaos.

Finding an audience for the surging expression of angst, Lateral Tension began receiving radio play on many local, national, and international stations such as "Cyberage," KUNM 89.9 FM, Albuquerque, New Mexico; "Sampler et Sans Reproches" of France and Belgium (whose station chose Pressure Device as CD of the week); and "Storming the Base of the Alien Foe," CKMS 100.3 FM, Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario (to name a few). "Excellent musical structure sums up this CD. Lateral Tension knows how to write cyber-industrial music," said reviewer of their Seattle show, Doug Seven, of Evolution Child Records and the Seattle based Noize Foundation webzine.

Richard Grind joined the group adding additional live string sounds and effects to performances. New tracks are also being finished for Lateral Tension's next release, Moral Fracture.
