================================
"After only a year and a half in business, Lejeune has its sound wired tight---romantic, jangly, operatic pop compiled from loving glances back at the grand gestures of the '70s and from the songcraft and irony of '80s indie." -Washington Post Express
"Soulful pop with an indie twist." -J.R. Oliver, Earcandy Magazine
Lejeune is a Washington, DC quintet dedicated to writing and performing romantic pop rock about the usual: Japanese nightclubs, dorm-room affairs, street violence. Though Lejeune's songs have been described as a soulful and velvety mix, favorably compared to Luna, Bowie, and early R.E.M., its members have created a big sound---inspired by '60s torch singers and spaghetti-western soundtracks---uniquely their own.
Lejeune formed in the summer of 2003, and released their self-titled, 8-song debut in the fall of 2004.
The CD was recorded with DC-based sound engineer Dennis Kane on an unoccupied floor of Richmond, VA's historic Hotel John Marshall. The resulting tracks were mastered by Jim Chapdelaine, of Multi-Music Services in West Hartford, CT. Chapdelaine has mastered numerous projects for Rykodisc and is a former student of mastering legend Greg Calbi (Yo La Tengo, The Strokes, Interpol). DC/NYC photographer Susanna Thornton kindly contributed the CD's cover art, her dreamy images corresponding very nicely with the band's atmospheric sound.
Lejeune is currenly recording their second CD at Sound of Music Studios in Richmond, VA.
