Biography

A cluster of three very different yet powerful members, Life Imitating, a Melbourne, Australian rock/alternative outfit, have continued to base their direction on the mixing of different influences. Mark Hutson (Guitar/Vocals) brings a rare songwriting talent accompanied by powerful yet emotive vocals and a totally unique approach to the guitar. Leo Wings (Drums), the pulse of Life Imitating, provides a keen musical ear and acute awareness of 'sound in space' that has shaped the evolution of this band's production. Angelo Saridis (Bass) evenly distributes his pop sensibility throughout the music, choosing melodic lines that blast the Life Imitating sound into orbit.

Life Imitating's first EP 'Stories' (Sept. 2001) made the statement 'This is Life Imitating!! We are here!!'. Mark's songwriting development is clearly exhibited here with a wide variety of musical styles explored, an unmistakable Life Imitating trait. Leo Wings, NMIT qualified in Music Business Management and former producer of Melbourne Band 'In theory', shaped the production process and took away with him an evergrowing list of recording ideas.

'Stories' was distributed throughout Melbourne's hippest record stores (Polyester, Gaslight) and achieved strong support from the buying public. Riding on the success of 'Stories', Life Imitating's original line up enjoyed a busy period of live performance throughout 2002 and 2004, frequenting local haunts The Armadale and The Planet Upstairs. Life Imitating's presence on the Internet was also attracting listeners from all over the world.

In the middle of 2004 complete with new line up, Life Imitating independently wrote and recorded their latest self titled ep, sold online and through selected retail shops. With it come Life Imitatings first film clip for 'Platinum Scissors', national and international radio play and overseas label interest in the band whilst continuing to attract more listeners both local and overseas for their ever growing fan base.

2005 represents an other period of rapid development in the world of Life Imitating. Since the release of Stories, Life Imitating has expanded their catalogue of recordings and eps by more than 40+ songs. A new freash and always updated web site and a new bag of songs has stirred up the faithful fan base.
