What do you get when you take a metal band, turn them punk, and add in a touch of pop songwriting? Now remove all the emo cliches and replace the girl jeans with some heavy vocals. Toss in a hardcore DIY attitude, a "mindblowingly energetic stage show", mix with five good looking fellas and you‘ve just wrangled yourself a LOKATA. LOKATA (low-kah-tuh) pulls songwriting influences from ninety‘s bands like "The Deftones" and "Nirvana", mixing it with the style of metal bands like "Killswitch Engage" and "Hatebreed", then sprinkling a bit of pop attitude over it all in the spirit of bands like "NOFX" and "Rancid". "If there was ever a breed of mutt rock... we are it." jokes the band. In the true DIY spirit and in recognizing how the industry is in a point of change, they present a fresh voice and attitude to tired ears. Spending near five months recording their debut EP "Resolve" they did what to some is unfathomable: They did it all by themselves. No multithousand dollar console, no cigar-toting producer and no comfy studio couches. Hopes and dreams wont fill the road van with gas, but it fuels those who travel in it. As LOKATA continues to expand their growing network of fans online and off, the band looks towards the future. "Podcasting, webisodes, online concerts...i dont know how we could do what we do without making the most of technology." says resident nerd and vocalist JAe. There is no doubt that this is one of the hardest working bands around and will be one of the hottest acts to watch out for in the next year.
