Lucidium is the dream pop/goth/world fusion alter musical identity of Martin Ball. This is really where I started out musically as a teenager, wanting to make cool dark music like the Cure and other favorite bands at the time. Now my music is much more diverse and rarelyquite so dark.
For more recent music check out Martin Ball, Orobai, Down Fern Creek, and Natural Roots, also on www.download.com.
These are some of my more Cure/Dead Can Dance/Cocteau Twins songs, bands I listened to mostly in my more formative musical days when I was learing how to play guitar.
Mostly these are older songs here, though I'm working on updating them with new recordings.? Recent new recordings of old songs on this page include: "Facing No One But Yourself" (originally recorded in 1995), "Turning the Dark" (with an update from the 2000 version, which was already a re-recording) and "Inner Labyrinth" (original, 2000).? These new versions are all digital recordings, done with GarageBand.? The other songs here are from back when I recorded with a 4-track, something that's been retired for a few years now.
A note on the name: Lucidium comes from the idea of the "Grand Lucidium," which is a ritual in a series of novels I'm writing, Tales of Aurduin, volume III The Alchemist and the Eagle. This is where the leaders of the Jolao Empire, the Ringa, alchemists who have achieved immortality by consuming mysterious metals sacrifice a captive heathen in a public ritual of state power and gore.?
