Editor's review

Marbert Rocel's music is electronic and German--but you've probably got the wrong idea. His tracks are poppy and housey, kind of like Jazzanova, but are guested by a girl who sounds not that unlike Erykah Badu (see "Cornflake Boy"). Watch out, Mrs. Common.

Biography

Sunny sound dots appeared all over the wide valley of Thuringia, Germany - the place where lush moving meadows outshines the ways of masters and servants. Everything began with two upright guys and a fly girl, who had a cup of milk and honey at the late club. By every slug they spread a warm and cosy beat over the folks hearts. Beats like birds flap their wings in the rhythm of warm house and understatement pop. For five years to date they keep to the big bang jigger kings with delight uptempo emo and frickelchick.

Recently Marbert Rocel plucked up their samples and sent good feeling track cards from their train station Zughafen to their main station Compost Records. United they are devising the new zippy album to bring your birdy hearts to fly.

And if you are filled with milk and honey, have a look across the valley. Then you might find the words of the greeds: “Marbert Rocel is like painting tattoos with water colors and playing jazz from both sides of the carrera race track while searching sounds with a touch of old super 8 movies."
(written by Ulrike Dreyheller)

Marbert Rocel is Compost’s latest coup. The duo consisting of Marbert AND Rocel is a trio to be exact: Marcel Aue (producing, DJing and mixing), Robert Krause (producing, DJing and artwork) and Antje Seifarth (Vocals) have always know how to melt down the ears and the sneaker soles of their fellow Thuringians with their House-Jazz-Frickel-Elektroniko-vinyl-tinned-music-performance. But with the release of their debut album “Speed Emotions” it is time to venture out and spread their compositions to all those greedy music appreciators worldwide...

Marcel Aue aka DJ Malik is spinning records as hiphop DJ since about 10 years and is part of the German pop-funk-rap crossover act Clueso, whose records “Weit Weg” and “Gute Musik” were co-produced by him. Robert Krause studies graphic design and responsible for the artwork of „Speed Emotions“ and all other Marbert Rocel releases. The vocalist Antje Seifarth (called „Spunki“ by her friends) was backup singer of Clueso and the jazz project Rhythm Club.

The title „Speed Emotions“ alludes to the emotionality of their songs. Marbert Rocel don’t produce „tracks“ - their compositions are dealing with intensive emotions in that come about swiftly but also can disappear just as quick as they turned up. They take this fast paced ephemerality as integrated concept that pairs lovely melodies with swinging house beats. Genres and their boundaries get ignored intentionally. Besides catchy hits like “ttticticrac” there are dancefloor fillers like “Roll To Roll”. The first single “Beats Like Birds” comes across with a remix by Douglas Greed from the Freude Am Tanzen camp. The muscle packed heart on the album cover describes perfectly how self-confident Marbert Rocel lets emotional perception flow into their songs.

You got to be patient when crossing Marbert Rocel’s path late at night or listening tSunny sound dots appeared all over the wide valley of Thuringia, Germany - the place where lush moving meadows outshines the ways of masters and servants.
