Django Reinhardt's lounge-lizard swing was both carefree and dangerous--you didn't know whether to dance along or watch your back. Marc Roth's stuff pulls off a similar balance. Built on hollow-body guitar and trilling woodwinds, it's at once happy-go-lucky and vaguely sinister.
