Springfield, MA hip-hop collective Maspyke has shared the stage with A Tribe Called Quest, and the swampy beats of that seminal '90s crew must have rubbed off. Pyke uses glowing, jazzy bass lines and chilled-out keyboard loops to fashion tracks that keep the focus where hip-hop always meant for it to be: seduction.
Biography
Maspyke (formerly signed to Atlantic Records imprint Head Up) have been performing/recording since 1991 and have shared the stage with Mos Def, EPMD, Slick Rick, Jurassic 5, Nore, A Tribe Called Quest and Xzibit to name a few. Together the trio (Tableek, H-Bomb, & DJ Roddy Rod) have interpreted the raw gritty-ness of early 21st century Hip-Hop music into their own collage of original, lyric heavy, soulful expressions of hardcore Hip Hop for the 'New' New School. Their highly anticipated and critically acclaimed first album "The Blackout" was released via Bukarance Records in 2003. This summer of 2005 will spawn the release of Maspyke's blazin' second album, "STATIC"!!!
